Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy has long been known for its relaxing and calming effects on the body, mind, and spirit. Even though many people know that massage is relaxing, the benefits of massage therapy extend much further in physical, mental and spiritual health.

Massage can help people with an assortment of poor health symptoms, such as headaches, back aches, low or fluctuating energy levels, joint pain, anxiety and nervousness, difficulty relaxing, colds and viruses, low immunity, fatigue, stiffness and decreased flexibility, feeling cold, and low libido. Massage therapy has an amazing effect on your body's nervous system.  When massage therapy activates your body's parasympathetic nervous system, it counteracts your body's negative response to stress, relaxing muscle tension and allowing your heart rate, blood pressure and circulation to return to normal.

Each client receives a personalized treatment/recovery plan consisting of specialized massage/body work, and client participation conditioning/strengthening and flexibility exercises and stretches. Therapies that are positively correlated to massage can be recommended and include aromatherapy, herbal remedies, and meditation.

Some other benefits of massage include:

  • Stress relief, relaxation and release of endorphins
  • Reduce blood pressure
  • Increase red blood cell counts
  • Relieve muscle tension and stiffness
  • Increases joint flexibility and range of motion
  • Promote deeper and easier breathing
  • Relieve tension headaches and eye strain
  • Improve blood circulation and lymph fluid movement
  • Enhance the health and nourishment of the skin and reduce scarring
  • Treat musculoskeletal problems and decrease muscular deterioration

Did You Know? Massage is a highly effective tool improve posture. Inappropriate posture can be the result of the after effects of trauma, like a whip lash, that isn't treated with adequate physical therapy and or massage work, or simply by setting for long periods of time, which shortens the quad muscles and often tilts the pelvis and results in lower back, hip and glutial  pain.  Regular massage work combined with specific stretching, will re-educate the muscles and help restore optimum anatomical posture.

Testimonial"For many years of my adult life, indulging in a massage was something I did only while on vacation. About 10 years ago, my mind set about the value of massage therapy changed from being just a personal reward to becoming a necessary part of my physical and mental conditioning. Over these years I have used massage to aide my overall conditioning, reduce stress, as well as to help recover from injuries.                            A few years ago, Jini helped me recover from a “frozen” shoulder.  Through a combination of aggressive massage therapy, stretching, and swimming, I was able to fully recover to be able to once again throw a softball. I thank the friend who referred me to Jini on many occasions." Did You Know? Massage is a great remedy for headaches.   The majority of headaches are caused by tight neck and shoulder muscles.  Massage work, often Ice Massage, is the most effective as it helps sooth, calm and relax the tight muscles.  Then trigger point work followed by some specific stretching  most often provides immediate relief.

Testimonial“As a self employed professional I cannot afford to be sick.  When I am not working I am not earning an income.  As a result I learned long ago that regular massage therapy really helps to keep me in good health.  With all the stresses I encounter daily I find that my massage sessions completely relax me.  This in turn keeps me healthier which equates to a happier and more fulfilling life.”  D.G. Poway

Did You Know?Massage has been shown to be a very effective means to lower your blood pressure.   Massage promotes the relaxation  response in our bodies by turning on our parasympathetic nervous system.  When this happens, all the bodies vital signs are slowed down - respiration, heart beat, and blood pressure.

TestimonialI only use female massage therapists with one exception. I have been seeing Berney on and off over the years for massage and I can honestly say that he gives the best massage I have ever had. When ever I am in town I always make a point of scheduling an appointment with him. I would recommend him to anyone that wants a good massage. As a woman it is also especially nice feeling safe and respected so I can truly let go and relax. C.W. New York
